Indian food processing industry stretches its realm to Japanese market, as Amul is
all set to make its presence felt in the Japanese food market sooner.

getting consent from the delegation of Japan\'s Agriculture and Livestock Industry
Corp (ALIC), Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), popularly known
as Amul, is all set to hit the Japanese market in the times to come. Though, this
venture was planned a decade ago, in 1994, but was delayed until the delegation
visited GCMMF facilities including the processing units in Gujarat the month of
February 2006 and gave its approval over the matter.

published by RNCOS, "India has the largest flock of dairy population all over the
world, which includes 88Mn buffaloes and 278Mn cattle. Across India, there are
around 72,000 village dairy cooperatives. The village dairy co-operative societies
are associated with 180 district milk producers' unions, which in turn have 25 state
cooperative dairy federations".

"Export of both processed food as well as value-added agricultural produce is likely
to grow at a faster pace in the next five years, which will results in profits in
bulk for the food processing industry of India". The further suggests, "The milk
production of India is expected to grow at an annual growth rate of 5 percent and
the production should cross the target of 112Mn tons in the next few years", as per
experts.
